Starfish shawl is done!

Whew! That was a *ton* of knitting. But you know what? It was nice, peaceful, stress-free knitting. Knitting without having to refer to a pattern. I’m a multi-tasker knitter — I’m either watching a movie, or having a conversation, or listening to an audiobook, so it’s a real drag to have to refer to a [...]

Little break and next big project

So I took a nice little break and knitted up a pair of Cable Footies from One Skein:

They were so much fun! And I love the finished result. I used Elann superwash so they can be thrown in with our regular laundry, and I took heed of the book’s advice that I might want a [...]

Finished Chanel!

Wow, this was quite some project. Let’s just say it did not go smoothly. I had a *lot* of trouble with the sleeve length. I would knit it a sleeve up to the right measurements (or so I thought), then block it and it would be a good 2-3 inches too long. So I would [...]

It’s a learning experience, right?

I’ve been working (and re-working) on the Chanel-like jacket for a week or two now, and I have learned a ton (i.e., knit, frogged, swore, knit, frogged, early gave up, knit, etc.) So, for those of you who are interested in embarking on this same journey, I will list out what I now know:

When you [...]

Another FO — new record!

I’m just a knittin’ fool lately. I finished up the circular shrug:

I took a bunch of pics because I had such a hard time picturing how it would fit, and now that it’s done, it is so interesting, I want to be sure to capture it. It’s very cool, very flattering and amazing how it [...]

All right, now I’m on a roll ;)

First, here are some finished pics of Cherie Amour:

I have to admit, when it was first finished, I didn’t like it. It seemed too bulky. But I’ve worn it a few times now and it’s growing on me. I need sweaters, so it’s made it’s way into my rotation by default.
Then I was [...]

Cherie Amour pulling me back…

OK — so I’ve taken a bit of hiatus from knitting. Maybe it was the summer? Or the soccer season? Or just a general need to rest in the evenings after crazy days at work? Not sure, but anyway, Cherie Amour is pulling me back. That and Ravelry, which I finally joined last week (I’m [...]

Lace skirt c’est finis!

Finished the lace skirt today. That went tons faster than I ever thought it would for three reasons:

This Daktari yarn is so yummy, I couldn’t put it down
We went out of town last weekend at the last minute to a location that has no phone, tv, or internet
I had the presence of mind to join [...]

Been a bit slow…

The crafting around here has been pretty slow. But on the upside, I’ve made some major progress on Hyena Cart improvements, so I’ll have a bit more time to get back to making stuff again, instead of typing away on my laptop all the time.
I did manage to finish the baby cardie:

It’s pretty cute. [...]

What I’m doing this weekend…

Well, I’ve hidden these for the past month, while I worked on them. But when I pulled them out earlier this week to take pics, the kids caught me and it was with *great* difficulty that I managed to pry Mumfred out of Isaac’s fingers. The only way I managed it was to promise him [...]
